boudouir photography.
Boudoir photography can sometimes be a misunderstood genre. Literally, it means photos taken in a ladies dressing room. Often it can mean slightly uncomfortable photos taken in stock environments. As with any portrait, the goal is to capture the essence of the individual. The same is true of a boudoir shoot. Sensuality, romanticism and eroticism are just the added elements that we work with to capture another side of you. Through conversation we’ll establish just what you want to achieve and what you feel comfortable with. For most women it is a slightly nervy but ultimately rewarding and empowering experience. Some people choose to share their photos with partners and some do it just for the self-confidence boost. Whatever your intent, the process should be fun!
Shoots can often take place in your home environment, where many people feel the most relaxed. I bring all the necessary equipment and lighting with me which gives us the option of combining natural and artificial light in unique and creative ways. Many photography studios rely on fixed props and light positions which robs the shoot of the individuality that it deserves. Don’t be concerned if you feel your home is not ‘photogenic’. Correct use of lighting can create neutral backgrounds in almost any situation; and you’d be surprised at how elements in your home can be utilised to create interesting props or backdrops that no-one else will have.
Some of my clients have opted to do outdoor shoots. If this is something you’re interested in then, I will work to find an interesting location that works both photographically and practically. Outdoor shoots create their own challenges but can also make for some really special shots. Similarly, some people prefer to opt for a studio environment. There are a multitude of private hire photographic studios available and I will happily make all the arrangements.
Whichever approach you decide to take, I’ll work hard to make sure that your photos are something you will ultimately be very proud of. Please get in touch if you’d like to find out more.
